Live Online #17

This week’s set features Buddhist chanting from China – very similar to the style of chanting we hear all over Taiwan, too. Most recently I was exposed to these haunting sounds during the funeral ceremonies for my grandfather-in-law, though it didn’t feel appropriate to make recordings of my own then. As a stand-in, I used this recording by Ed Unlike that I found on SoundCloud. It’s used under the following Creative Commons license:

  • MoShang,
This is really nice mix. I found a lot of it bright, uplifting, and relaxing, so it’s interesting to hear the story behind it.

    thanks!

Thank you very much for the comment, Cary – you’re welcome. Wow, just found you played something by Kalahari Surfers in your Downtempo Podcast 04. Now there’s some South African music history right there!

Just discovered your website, and very glad I did! This will now be the backdrop for many a day when I’m in the office on my own and need that little bit of encouragement to focus, relax and persevere.
