Live Online #20

Nice to be back at Substance after missing the show there last week.

Wow, the second milestone came so quickly – 20 episodes and still going strong ;^) That also means you can expect another sample pack in the course of this week.

This week I feature some vocals by Kou Chou Ching from the Unsung Heroes album that I vocoded and used for my set at the Taipei album launch. I’ll check with KCC for permission to include these in the second sample pack.

Speaking of Unsung Heroes, I’ll announce winners of the CD give-away tomorrow. There’s still time if you want to enter – just leave a comment on this post.

Enjoy Live Online #20.

This recording was made at Substance (Second Life) on August 2nd, 2009.

Live Online #19

I’m still basking in the delicious afterglow of a great album launch event for “Unsung Heroes” at The Wall in Taipei last night. The crowd (somewhere between 300 and 400 people) was fantastic, as was the venue and the sound. I took some steps in the right direction engaging with the audience, but importantly the performance showed me where I can improve in this regard.

Check back at http://moshang.net tomorrow for some video of the Taipei launch and my performance, as well as the chance to win one of three copies of the “Unsung Heroes” CD.

I cancelled my show at Substance today – wisely as it turned out, since we arrived back in Taichung after 3am. This edition of the Live Online is a slightly older archived performance.

Enjoy Live Online #19.

Live in the real world

Although I do most of my performances online, I do have a couple of real world events coming up around Taiwan in July.

First up is a performance at Luvstock 2009 on Saturday, July 11th. Boston Paul of The Refuge in Dakeng is the organizer of this yearly event that just seems to keep growing. The following performers are confirmed for the two-day event:  DJ-REdo (Dominikolas), Militant Hippi Revolution, Dr. Reniculous lips and the Skallyunz, Plan B, The Stackers, Jon R. (Artist), David & The Flintstones, Waysoon, City of Earth, Point 22, Jagabags, Gruveballs, Tyler Dakin, and myself. Sounds like a party, so if you’re around Taichung on the 11th and 12th you know where to go.

I’m also really excited about performing at The Wall in Taipei for the first time on July 26th. The occasion is the CD release of “Kou Chou Ching presents: Unsung Heroes”. As we speak, I’m finishing up the master for the album. There will be performances by all the artists on the album, ie. Kou Chou Ching, Chang Jui-chuan, DJ Point, and myself. This is bound to be a goodie! More info (in Chinese) here.

To close this news update, here’s another cool machinima by Aiden Witrial of audience members at one of my Mood Lounge performances in SL:

Live Online #11

It was crunch-time last week with work on “Kou Chou Ching presents: Unsung Heroes” – unfortunately I had to cancel SL shows to accommodate the workload. So, we time-travel a bit for this week’s installment to a previously unreleased SL recording from April.

I recharged my creative batteries last night in Taipei at a performance of Ennio Morricone’s music with the Italian maestro himself conducting a 100-person orchestra he imported from Hungary, and a 110-person choir from Taiwan. Amazing, moving stuff!

Last week I promised a sample pack of my original loops from Live Online #1-10 and here it is:
MLO Sample Pack 1
It is a 193MB .zip download containing 78 loops in 24bit, 44.1kHz stereo quality.

Like the Live Online Podcast, the sample pack is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 Taiwan license, but a commercial license is available here for $9.95 USD in case any producers out there want to make use of these loops in commercial tracks.

That was quite a mouth-full, but here’s Live Online #11.

This recording was made at Greenies Home (Second Life) on April 8th, 2009.

Live Online #10

We’ve reached a landmark – ten episodes of Live Online, and almost 10 new hours of my tunes floating around the interwebs. Just amazing how time flies when you’re just chillin’.

I’ll be making a sample pack available of my original material from the first ten episodes soon. I’m not so sure it will be this week though, as I’m working hard to meet a deadline for “Kou Chou Ching presents: Unsung Heroes”, an album I’m working on in collaboration with Taiwanese artists Kou Chou Ching, Chang Jui-chuan, and DJ Point.

More good news is that printed copies of Suncake Lounge Vol. 1 arrived today – order yours on the Suncake Lounge website.

This recording was made at Substance (Second Life) on May 24th, 2009.
