Live Online #19

I’m still basking in the delicious afterglow of a great album launch event for “Unsung Heroes” at The Wall in Taipei last night. The crowd (somewhere between 300 and 400 people) was fantastic, as was the venue and the sound. I took some steps in the right direction engaging with the audience, but importantly the performance showed me where I can improve in this regard.

Check back at http://moshang.net tomorrow for some video of the Taipei launch and my performance, as well as the chance to win one of three copies of the “Unsung Heroes” CD.

I cancelled my show at Substance today – wisely as it turned out, since we arrived back in Taichung after 3am. This edition of the Live Online is a slightly older archived performance.

Enjoy Live Online #19.

This recording was made at Comfort Zone (Second Life) on July 19th, 2009.

Hey Kid – Disquiet Mix in Lufthansa Video

German airline Lufthansa has used my Disquiet Mix of Chang Jui-Chuan’s “Hey Kid” (off Asian Variations) in an online video promoting Hong Kong as a travel destination. They did quite a bit of editing, but it’s interesting nonetheless to see the track accompanied by visuals of Hong Kong.

The video is on the Lufthansa TravelWorld website (select “Perle des Luxus” on the right).

Machinima

I’ve just made a playlist of machinima(s) (what’s the plural?) of me performing in Second Life. Most recently SL resident Aiden Witrial has made a whole bunch of me at various shows. I want to thank Aiden and the other producers for taking the time to do thisĀ  – it’s been a great help in getting word out about the tunes.

Live Online #18

I’m gearing up for my performance with Kou Chou Ching, Chang Jui-chuan and DJ Point at The Wall in Taipei this coming weekend. I admit to being a little nervous about the show – The Wall is a pretty important club and since my sets are improvised there’s always the possibility that things go South. That said, the set that I’m presenting here today turned out to be a real confidence booster, along with the capacity crowd at Substance. Thanks to everyone who came out – having you along for the ride makes it all worthwhile.

Live Online #17

This week’s set features Buddhist chanting from China – very similar to the style of chanting we hear all over Taiwan, too. Most recently I was exposed to these haunting sounds during the funeral ceremonies for my grandfather-in-law, though it didn’t feel appropriate to make recordings of my own then. As a stand-in, I used this recording by Ed Unlike that I found on SoundCloud. It’s used under the following Creative Commons license:
