In addition to other digital music outlets, all the tracks from Chill Dynasty and Made In Taiwan are now also available from SNOCAP (most prominently on my MySpace page).

Back in Taiwan

What a difference three weeks make ;^) Back in Taiwan after visiting family and friends in South Africa. Is it just me or is it becoming a rather expensive country – either way, I’m rested and inspired!
I’m working hard on a second remix for Kou Chou Ching and I hope to include it on a remix album I’m planning to release in a couple of months.
I’ve updated the discography section at moshang.net to give a slightly more rounded picture of my musical activities over the years. Oh yeah, and I’ve just created a MOG page…
To my friends performing at this weekend’s Spring Scream Festival, break legs!
ESLITE Hsinchu

(L to R: Bordeaux, Jun, Emily, me and Andy)
I’ve reached the end of my 8 show Eslite Bookshop tour here in Taiwan with the final show in Hsinchu today. I’ve had so much fun doing these that I wish there were more. I’m hoping there will be many more CD’s to come and many more opportunities to perform. A big thank you to Yichin at Silent Agreement, Mosaic and the staff at these stores for making it so easy for me.
Em. and I were really happy to see our friends Bordeaux, Andy and Jun at Eslite yesterday. Bordeaux is a dear friend from South Africa, Andy is an American trombone player whose been active in a whole bunch of band projects in Taiwan (check out their Sound Clashes MySpace page) and Jun is a fellow windcontroller player. Since I last saw Jun, he’s made the change to Akai’s new EWI4000s instrument – I’m still using Yamaha’s older WX5. Though I love new technology, I must say the WX5 has worked out really nicely for me and I don’t think I’ll be changing any time soon. I’ll probably change my tune once Yamaha introduces an updated WX, though.
ESLITE Kaohsiung – LIVE!

I’ve uploaded a small snippet of the end of my set in Kaohsiung (in the video-section) – watch out for the lady in the third row having a great old boogie. You can’t tell from the back, but she was 60 if she was a day… here’s to us all bopping like that at 60! Thanks for the video, Patrick!
The photo-section has been update with pics from the gigs in Tainan and Kaohsiung…

The Freedom Mix of Jui-chuan Chang’s track The Hope Is Here (off his Genesis album) is finally done. You can have a listen to it in the MoShang Radio player and it will soon be available on the Podsafe Radio Network for podcasters to play.
If I spent somewhat longer than usual brooding on this one, it was because I wanted to do justice to Jui-chuan’s powerful anthem. Here is Jui-chuan’s own translation of the lyrics:
THE HOPE IS HERE
They say there’s a gulf between us
’Cause we fight and badmouth each other
Born and grew up on the same land
Without you, I can’t fly
No more yelling, no more name-calling
Let’s sit together. Let’s sing and drink
Only when you’re here with me
Freedom will blossom like the spring
Feeling so good, standing here
It’s our voice that they will hear
On this land there’s no passer-by
’Cause as one we unite
(Chorus)
Come here
No longer separate
Truly free on this ocean with no shores to be seen
Come here
It’s a colorful world
Let me sing you this song ’cause the hope is here
They say we daydream too much
We’d surrender as soon as we get scared
Ancestors’ blood and sweat drop into soil
Protect democracy and let it soar
You worship the Buddha, I believe in Jesus
We’re actually on the same path
Only when you’re here with me
Mercy will be blowing in the wind
Feeling so good, standing here
It’s our voice that they will hear
On this island there’s no passer-by
’Cause as one we unite
(Chorus)
Come here
No longer separate
Truly free on this ocean with no shores to be seen
Come here
It’s a colorful world
Let me sing you this song ’cause the hope is here
