Live Online #135: Forest

Here we go, the last installment of the MLO Podcast for 2011. How was your year?

It’s been pretty good this side. I released Groove Suite, and just a couple of weeks ago What Comes Around. Further East saw re-release on CD in Russia. And my soundtrack for the NatGeo production finally aired here in Taiwan.

I mentioned more than 20,000 listening hours on play.fm last week, so I thought I’d see how moshang.net did. According to awstats provided by my host, this website served up roughly 1630GB worth of mp3’s this year. Calculated at 1MB/minute that makes for another 27,000 listening hours.

As satisfying as it is to know that somewhere someone is listening to my tunes, I have a much better reason to celebrate 2011 – the birth of my son, Louis, in September. Can you tell a proud father?

Thanks so much for your support over the year. I love to hear from you, so do give me the occasional shout – I very rarely bite!

Live Online #134: Festival

Somewhere in the last month this podcast passed more than 20,000 listening hours over on play.fm. Granted, it’s spread out over 134 episodes, but still I’m pleased and more than a little flattered that people are listening.

I may have to slow down the pace a little bit in the new year and there may not be a new podcast every week – I’m pretty sure quality wins out over quantity and I’d like to present only when I have something new to show. I’ll also be rethinking the membership strategy soon – it’s one of those things that looks good in theory, but in my case falls flat in practice. Try stuff out, but only keep what works…

What Comes Around – a self-remixing album for Android smartphones

I have just released a new full-length album called What Comes Around. It exists only as an app for iPhone and Android, and it remixes itself on every listen. Listeners also have the option of  turning on the microphone and letting the app mix in environmental sounds. Have a listen to the free version doing its thing below.

For iPhone and other iOS devices, first download the free RjDj host app. Both the free and full versions are available as additional download from within RjDj. Alternatively, get the free version or the full version from the RjDj website.

For Android, get the 5-song free version from the Market here, and the 14-song full version here.

Live Online #133: Dialog

Hey,hey! I managed to assemble my Shruthi-1! It may have taken two days and two soldering irons, but everything’s working as it should – and importantly it’s sounding lovely.

You can hear the Shruthi-1 all over the first half of this week’s set, albeit in a supporting role. It’s not that the Shruthi-1 isn’t perfectly capable of holding its own, it’s just not the right place for it here.

To make up for the missed week last week and since it’s almost Christmas, I’m making the complete show available for free download this week. Enjoy! Premium members get the show in 256kbps.
