Live Online #79: Mirror

After long lusting after a proper smartphone to replace my Nokia 5320, I got myself an Android based HTC Aria over the weekend – call it an early birthday gift to myself. And I’m loving every second of it. I’ve already set it up as a fantastic e-book reader with the Aldico App. I also discovered a great app called eStroke to help me learn to write Chinese characters. I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship :^)

Live Online #77: Odyssey

With the master for Further East safely delivered to the label, now would be a good time to upgrade my software. I’m expecting my upgrade to Propellerhead Reason 5 at any time. Looking forward to getting up to speed with the new features, and am especially excited about the new sampling feature and the Kong drum designer. The Blocks feature also looks very handy, allowing you to experiment with the structure of a song with the minimum of fuss. Hmmm, I see Ableton has also updated Live to 8.1.5 (I’m on 8.1.3) – eager to see if the weird little issue with some channels dropping out unexpectedly is resolved.

Live Online #76: Island

Em. and I just got back from a lovely weekend break in Kenting at the southern tip of Taiwan. I enjoyed the relaxing get-away all the more since I delivered the completed Further East album to Lemongrassmusic on Friday. I’m very pleased with it, but now I’m anxiously awaiting the label’s feedback for improvements. I’m still getting used to this step in the process after years of going it alone and having the final say in everything ;^) But it’s exactly the kind of relationship that writers have with their editors and in the end serves to make a better final product. Here’s to that!

***UPDATE***
I’ve just had word from the label that they’re taking the album exactly as I gave it to them! No revisions necessary. A tentative release date has been set for the end of November.
