The Sound Jeweler

My apologies if you’ve been desperately waiting for news from MoShang-land and have been silently cursing me for not updating this blog more often ;^) I’ve been pretty tied up promoting the Asian Variations album and while it’s been fun telling people about a free album download, I really feel ready to start making music again. Being a one man operation means that I have to wear a number of caps and have to switch them regularly – right now I’m wearing the promotion cap and it’s starting to itch just a little. I’ll have to bear the discomfort for another month or so – hopefully I can do enough in that time to get AV up on it’s feet.

I’m very grateful for the help I’m receiving from podcasters and bloggers and will continue to link to them over at the AV-blog. I particularly want to thank Mark Forman again for all his help – most recently for setting up contact with Taiwan Fun Magazine who will be running an article on my music in their September issue. Listen to an interview Mark did with me a couple of weeks before the release of AV.

I received a copy of The Decibel Collective‘s CD release of my music yesterday under the title The Sound Jeweler. The Decibel Collective is the Canadian company who is responsible for the licensing of my music for media use. They’ve done a really nice job with the presentation of the album and they’ve also included the album in their DVD catolgue Creative Elevation. I’ve been lucky to have sold a number of licenses through them in the last two years or so and I’m looking forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with the DBC.

Increase the Dosage : Immaculate!

I’m cringing at my own naivety and arrogance – when I uploaded my remix album to jamendo.com a week ago, I did so with the thought that I can help raise the bar in terms of what’s available for free on the web. I had no idea exactly how high that bar has already been set by quality releases such as this one.

Virtuoso playing throughout and exceptional production values make this one of my favorite albums in a long time – free or otherwise. Nu-jazz / downtempo electronica done to perfection.

My favorite track: 11. Nebulous Notions.

Congratulations, Revolution Void, and MUCH respect! I’ll stop before I gush and embarrass myself further… ;^)

Live @ The Living Room (Taipei)

A night of musical entertainment like no other in Taipei.
– A perfect way to amp the night ahead.

Where: Living Room
臺北市南京東路五段8號3樓
3F, #8, Nanjing E. Rd, Sec. 5
Tel: 02-8787-4154 Fax: 02-3765-1945

Cost = two drink minimum plus optional band donation

Saturday’s excursion sees Viba, performing his last set in Taipei for a while – Funked Trip Hop and electro-tinged house that has wowed audiences across the island is on the menu. With his debut album East/West Relations out on Bubble Bomb Records, Viba is certainly a rising star in the world of electronica and one to watch out for on the island

Though MoShang performs at least three times a week in the Second Life online world (his recent performance at the SecondFest in SL saw him billed with the likes of Pet Shop Boys and Groove Armada), his performances on the island have been rather scarce of late. Don’t miss the chance to see MoShang performing his Chinese Chill brand of downtempo electronica live. His 2006 release Chill Dynasty has been doing well in stores around the island.

KTK will be thrilling us with more experimental beats created from an array of electronic gadgetry. This duo has been performing regularly over the past few months and have been building a reputation for packing a punch and a few surprises.

*** UPDATE! ***

Regrettably, I’m stuck in Taichung due to a typhoon and won’t be able to appear at the show. The show, however, is still happening and all the Taipei artists will be performing. My sincere apologies – I was really looking forward to this one ;^(
