Ode to Shruthi-1

Here’s something I made to show off the Shruthi-1 a little more, made with 100% Shruthi-1 preset sounds. Love this little box!

What Comes Around – a self-remixing album for Android smartphones

I have just released a new full-length album called What Comes Around. This time not on available on iTunes or one of the other music download stores, but instead it’s available on the Android Market. See, it exists only as an App and it remixes itself on every listen. Listeners also have the option of  turning on the microphone and letting the app mix in environmental sounds. Have a listen to the free version doing its thing below.

What Comes Around [Free] – First Iteration by MoShang

Get the 5-song free version from the Market here, and the 14-song full version here. Your thoughts and suggestions are most welcome!

Here’s a video of What Comes Around doing its thing on a walk in the park.

I’ve managed to thank two of them in person on this forum, but again a huge thanks to the creators of the free software that makes this album possible, Miller Puckette (Pure Data), Peter Brinkmann (libpd), and Chris McCormick (PdDroidParty). I’ve left details of my process on this forum (towards the bottom of the page).

A Farewell In The Evening Rain [NEX-5N Video Test]

I thought I’d do a a quick video experiment with Sony’s NEX-5n. Shot handheld on a cloudy day in Intelligent Auto mode with the toy camera filter selected. Shot in 1080p at 60 frames a second – edited an slowed down by half in Windows Live Movie Maker and exported as .wmv. I’m looking forward to getting a Hague mini motion-cam to use with this camera – should make for much smoother video. The soundtrack is A Farewell In The Evening Rain off my Further East album.

Dark Star

I got a new toy today in the form of a Doepfer Dark Energy – cute as a button! I made this demo for it to see if I can get my head around it. Hey, I think I can!

MLO#24 vs Electric Sheep

A big thanks to David Carboni for tipping me off to the cool synergy between my tunes and the hypnotic visuals from the Electric Sheep screensaver – or rather, “collaborative abstract artwork” as its creator Scott Draves describes it. In short, rather than just displaying the visuals each computer running the screensaver forms part of supercomputer and renders individual frames for these spectacular animations. Even better, the resulting visuals are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 (USA) license, meaning I am free to make this mashup with my music.

For this video, I grabbed some rendered animations from Sheep Packs 3 & 7 and dumped them into animoto.com, along with an extract from Live Online #24 – cool timing, since animoto.com has just added the video uploading feature in the last couple of weeks.

This mashup is similarly licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 (Taiwan) license and you can download the original animoto renders here:
