I’ve just finished a remix of trip-hop band Soulstice‘s track Realistic. It’s for a remix contest hosted by Om Records (whom I must admit to having a bit of a crush on).

I wanted to get all indignant about it, but then I remembered that pop music is by definition a popularity contest ;^/ Either way, I like my version.

Nope, not a winner this time – though I’ll happily accept the honorable mention.

I had a fun week experimenting with the new Doepfer Dark Energy. Not only did I make this demo for the instrument, but I also pushed it into service on a new remix I’m working on. You can also hear the DE in this week’s podcast on the first track Siamese and later on in Gold. It’s a tiny little thing, but it oozes character. It’s the perfect complement to my otherwise all software-based studio.
