If you were around in the 80s, you may remember the Hooked on Classics series of albums. If you weren’t, lucky you! Just kidding, my dad loved playing the tape on repeat on long family car-trips. Basically, it was all the famous bits from classical orchestral works strung together and set to a disco beat. Well, I’m doing something like the reverse of that here – taking my usual beat driven MLO sets and replacing the drums with strings. With a break in my schedule after the delivery of the Koxinga masters, I made use of the opportunity to move from the 32bit to 64bit version of Windows 7. This PC has had 6GB ram from the start, but I could never make use of it in the 32bit OS. I’ve moved to the latest version of Cakewalk’s Sonar X1, also running in its native 64bit version. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to connect Reason (32bit only at the moment) to Sonar X1 64bit, but then I came accross the aptly named Rewire VST. It’s working like a charm for me.

To stress test the new setup and to get up to speed with Sonar X1, I’ve been doing lots of mixing on my Aerobium side-project – more on that later.

So far, so good… the most annoying niggle at this stage is that I can’t get my Lexmark printer installed. I may have to get another ;^/
